January 19th we bring you Mei Ohara. A violinist, electronic music producer and singer.
Well known in Boston and around the country. Let me share her Bio.
Mei Ohara is an electric violinist, singer, and electronic composer based out of Boston. Though she spent most of her life studying and performing classical music, the music of Depeche Mode, Röyksopp, and multiple video games won over her Neptunian heart. She continues to use her classical background and intensive violin training in marriage with distortion, futuristic beats, and spacey soundscapes. She draws a large amount of her inspiration from astronomy, sci fi, and the comparison of structured science versus fluid art. The emphasis on opposites combining in unity is further evidenced by her binary hair and mixed blood as a half-Japanese, half American. Since beginning in 2010, Mei has performed around the country, including Boston, NYC, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. In addition to her two studio releases, she continues to write and perform new music with topics including the relationship between the Earth and Moon, isolating oneself in the introverted “City of I,” and an alienesque detachment from the theater of human identity.
Just hearing this gives me great excitement to have her in Worcester. Cant wait!!
